"None of my other investments give me the joy that autographs do because they make me feel that I am
holding a piece of history in my hands." - Malcolm Forbes
Michael Rypel is the Managing Director of Leipzig Galleries and the Director of Examination & Acquisitions for its global operations—purveyors of rare moments in history, cinema, and sport since 1813. He is also a Managing Partner of MIR Consulting, LLC, where he serves as an entertainment consultant and public relations advisor to internationally recognised figures in film, music, and culture.
For over three decades, Rypel has been a leading authority in the acquisition, authentication, and presentation of historically significant artefacts and cultural memorabilia. He has personally handled more than 20,000 rare manuscripts, historical documents, artefacts, match-worn football shirts and boots, and signed memorabilia, many of which are now housed in prestigious institutional and private collections throughout the world.
His areas of expertise encompass the Napoleonic period and the authentication, provenance, and preservation of historical and cultural artefacts. His expertise extends to match-worn football shirts and boots from many of the game's greatest players, original Hollywood props, signed entertainment memorabilia, and other iconic objects that define the cultural history of the 20th and 21st centuries.
He holds a PhD in Art History, Criticism, and Conservation, as well as a Master of Science in Forensic and Investigative Sciences (MSFS), combining academic scholarship with more than three decades of practical expertise in authentication, provenance research, and museum-quality preservation. His work is trusted by private collectors, royal families, cultural institutions, and celebrity estates alike.
Through Leipzig Galleries, Rypel oversees a team specialising in museum-grade archival preservation, forensic signature verification, and bespoke display design—transforming historically significant objects into heirloom-quality presentations.
Whether preserving a battlefield letter, a screen-used cinematic artefact, or a signed jersey worn by a sports legend, Michael Rypel remains one of the most trusted and discreet advisors in the world of rare collectibles, cultural memorabilia, and historical presentation.
